While very few on the OU campus may personally remember the March on Washington for Jobs and Freedom, the pinnacle event in the Civil Rights Movement, it has not been forgotten. Nor has the famous “I Have a Dream” speech delivered by Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. 50 years ago this month.
To commemorate this historical event, Ohio University will host a program that will include images, music, video and recordings to capture the spirit of the March on Washington 50 years ago. The event is set for August 28, 7-8 p.m., at Templeton-Blackburn Alumni Memorial Auditorium and is free.
