Bounty on the Bricks brings local farmers and food lovers together on August 3 for an evening of food, music and community sharing, in support of the Southeast Ohio Food Bank and its member food pantries. Many people go hungry in Athens County and in SE Ohio; this venerable organization has been on the front lines for decades, working to alleviate the problem.
Patrons can support this annual event by buying a ticket for $100 that includes a gourmet meal with local seasonal foods prepared by a chef from Pork and Pickles. As an added incentive, the organizers will offer specially crafted wood serving boards, made exclusively for this event. They’ll get a cleaning and be ready to go home with their new owners at the end of the fund raiser. Boards are $50 each; proceeds go to the food bank.
Food pantries included in the food bank are located in several Ohio counties, including Athens, Hocking, Morgan, Perry, Vinton and Washington.
Tickets are on sale now. If you’re just a poor college student who can’t afford a $100 ticket to support this event, maybe you’d like to become a volunteer for the Athens County Food Pantry. They do excellent work, trying to ensure that no one goes hungry in Athens County.
