If you enjoy seeing the colors of the changing fall, you need go no farther than Athens to revel in them in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains in Southeastern Ohio. - Wayne National Forest is Ohio’s only national forest, but it’s a treasure for the fall foliage crowd, with a quarter of a million acres and 300 miles of trails.
- Bikers can enjoy a 21-mile bike path on Hockhocking Adena Bikeway along the Hocking River. See forests ablaze with fall color, as well as wetlands and fields.
- Dow Lake is next to Strouds Run State Park; explore the 166 acres from a boat or kayak and have a gander at the fall color as you paddle along.
