In the winter, we can go a bit stir crazy if the weather’s severe and we’re stuck indoors in our one-bedroom apartment Athens Ohio. To break the monotony, and to get away from your last-minute marathon of studying and writing papers before winter break, you may want to head to some of the local venues just to get a breath of air. One popular and seemingly unlikely nearby get-away is a walking tour of the historic Athens Ohio Asylum.
OK, it might sound a bit creepy, but we guarantee you’ll find it interesting and enlightening. The walking tours of the grounds are held monthly, with the next one scheduled for Dec. 15 at 2 p.m.. A long-time Asylum employee will lead the tour, telling stories and showing hidden locations around the grounds. Tickets are $20.
Hocking Hills State Park and the asylum are located about 45 minutes’ drive from OU.
