A weeklong observance of the Martin Luther King holiday (officially, Monday, Jan. 20) is set at OU. The week will honor the “life and legacy” of King, the celebrated civil rights advocate who led the nation’s nonviolent struggle for racial equality and justice for all until his assassination in 1968.
Among the events for the week:
Monday: MLK Silent March, Jan. 20, 10:30-11 a.m. in front of Galbreath Memorial Chapel; brunch, 11 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Baker University Center Ballroom.
Tuesday: Faith Acts, 7 p.m., Rabi Saundra Lawson, Galbreath Memorial Chapel
Wednesday: Black Excellence Panel discussion, 6-7 p.m., Career and Leadership Development Center,; networking hour, 7-8 p.m. Amanda J. Cunningham Center, Baker University Center 366.
Thursday: 2020 Charity Basketball Game, 6-8 p.m., Ping Recreation Center Area D. Entry: non-perishable or personal care item.
Friday: Celebration Arts Cypher, 7 p.m., Baker University Center Theatre
Saturday: 9 a.m.-5 p.m., Day of Service, Athens Campus and surrounding area
