If you’re stuck in Athens taking summer classes, take heart – there’s plenty to look forward to on the local summer scene whenever you take a break from the grind.
One of the most eagerly anticipated summer events is Ohio Brew Week, scheduled for July 12-20. It’s a nine-day celebration of Ohio craft brews where beer nerds and connoisseurs sample the wares of more than 200 beers from more than 40 Ohio breweries. If you’ve been on this annual Athens brewski scene before, you know the drill. You’ll find plenty of old favorites, but also some new beers to tickle your taste buds.
People come from miles around to participate in the festival, so count yourself lucky to be ensconced in your Athens apartments near bars, or just anywhere near Court Street.
If you haven’t experienced Ohio Brew Week, get ready to greet the hordes who’ll be gathering for Last Call, on Sat., July 20, starting at noon when Athens hosts the annual block party on Court Street, from Carpenter to Washington, with live music, food vendors, and of course, craft brews.
