Like a lot of colleges across the country, Ohio University is no stranger to hosting family weekends. Ohio University parents’ weekends are some of the biggest campus-wide events every year. Being away from home for some students is tough, and family weekends give them a chance to spend extra time with their loved ones and show them around Athens.
Moms Weekend, the perennial favorite in early spring, is coming back to campus on April 4th-6th this year. Besides getting all of that good mom time in over the weekend, Moms Weekend promises a huge variety of events to keep you and your mom entertained the whole time.
What Types of Events to Expect at Moms Weekend
Moms Weekend is a chance to spend quality time with your mom and show her how much you miss her. Thankfully, the university has taken on most of the planning by providing a huge assortment of events. While the exact lineup of events for 2025 has yet to be announced by the university, the 2024 events give a great look at the sheer number of activities that are available to engage in over the course of the weekend.
In 2024, the university hosted nearly 15 separate events designed for Moms Weekend. While there’s more standard mom fare like a paint and sip activity and tea with the university president, there are plenty more adventurous options. Want to go ziplining with your mom? What about attending a campfire with her? Ohio University even brought celebrities from the television show Dance Moms in for a Q&A session and booked comedian Hannah Berner for a standup show.
Want to do something more lowkey with mom? Take a bouquet making class and learn the art of flower arranging. The annual Global Arts Festival that spans a full week of celebrations sometimes coincides with Moms Weekend like it did in 2024 too. However you choose to spend your time with mom is time well-spent when there’s a whole itinerary of exciting events to take part in.
