Winter is coming, and the folks at the Columbus Symphony couldn’t be more excited about it. The holidays and the winter season are full of classic musical favorites. Take time in between studying for end-of-semester finals and heading back home for winter break to see one of the most beloved holiday traditions by the talented Columbus Symphony.
Holiday Pops celebrates all things festive with a full symphony orchestra giving up rousing renditions of classic holiday music. With a modern twist, the symphony also performs holiday pop songs for everyone to tap their feet and sing along to. It really is the most wonderful time of the year, and you’re invited to Stuart’s Opera House to listen for yourself.
Normally performing in their hometown of Columbus, the Columbus Symphony are making their way to southeast Ohio at Stuart’s Opera House. They’ve only been making their way to the historic music venue in Nelsonville for the past few years, and it’s definitely worth the short twenty-minute pilgrimage from Athens to see them in person.
About the Columbus Symphony
Ask anyone living in central Ohio, and they can tell you that the Columbus Symphony is the real deal. The symphony has performed since the early 1950s and is one of the cornerstones of the Columbus art scene. It serves the community year in and year out with dozens of quality performances from their skilled musicians. Maybe you’re listening to them perform on a warm summer night at the Columbus Commons, or maybe you’re seated in the century-old Ohio Theatre for a night of musical bliss. Either way, you’re in for a treat.
The Columbus Symphony is also committed to education and community. They have an in-house program designed specifically for BIPOC students who are committed to professional musical careers. They consistently offer free tickets to shows for veterans, and they make themselves available to book for community events, festivals, and more. To say that they’re not a household name in central Ohio and beyond would be an understatement.
