Have a yen to go global with your studies? Ohio University has you covered. OU is among the first U.S. universities to endorse the NAFSA Association of International Educators’ principles supporting the idea that understanding of other languages and cultures improves our country’s ability to function in an interdependent world. In keeping with that idea, OU offers the Office of Global Opportunities as a starting place for students seeking an opportunity to study or work broad, to volunteer or find an internship overseas.
The university fervently hopes that once the COVID-19 pandemic has eased, and along with it extreme restrictions on international travel, student opportunities to study and work abroad will resume in some form reminiscent of before the public health emergency.
Meanwhile, students can use the OGO to learn about all OU-sponsored education abroad programs, as well as those sponsored by other U.S. universities, some private agencies and international organizations. Other OCO activities include:
- Dispenses information on education abroad scholarships, grants and financial aid.
- Manages exchange student agreements.
- Assists in the development of new education abroad programs. The OGO maintains a database of education abroad participants and programs.
