Ohio University sponsors a Veterans and Military Student Services Center that provides programs and services for student veterans, military personnel and their families. This effort includes helping veterans make a successful transition to university life, and to providing support for their academic careers. OU has been recognized consistently for being Top 10 Tier II Research Military Friendly Institution, ranking above average in these areas:
- Academic policies and compliance
- Admissions and orientation
- Culture and commitment
- Military student support and retention
What’s more, OU offers the Brigadier General Abraham and Colonel Greenfield Veterans and Military Student Services Center, located in Baker University Center, Room 350. Support offices are also located on OU’s regional campuses. Additionally, the federal Department of Veterans Affairs funds a number of work study positions on the main campus and regional campuses.
In addition to Army ROTC and Air Force ROTC, OU offers three military-affiliated organizations: Combat Veterans Club; Student Veterans of America; and Military Dependents’ Club.
The Veterans and Military Student Service Center can help in these ways:
- Assist in determining academic interests.
- File educational benefits requests.
- Explore opportunities on campus.
- Identify post-education employment.
OU currently has more than 5,000 military-affiliated students, as well as numerous veteran faculty and administrators.
