Uptown/Court Street Athens
If there’s a sure thing in Athens, Ohio, it’s that if you want to be close to the action, both academically and socially, the place to live is the uptown area, specifically Court Street. The four-block, quarter-mile span of Court Street, from Ohio University’s Baker Center on the south end to the Carpenter Street T-intersection on the north, contains ample options for student bar life and restaurant options, plus several stores where you can buy Bobcat-centric clothing and souvenirs. Krause Rental Properties has numerous rental options on North Court Street (or near there). In addition to being close to bars, restaurants, coffee shops and other attractions, there’s the obvious advantage of being close to the OU campus. Depending on where you live in the uptown area, reaching the main parts of campus – College Green, North Green, Baker Center, etc. – is no more than a five-minute walk. The more outlying campus locales – Morton Hall, the Convo, Porter Hall, Grover Center, Bird Arena, Peden Stadium, Ping Center, etc. – are no more than a 10-minute walk. If there’s one area of campus where you can get by living without a car it’s the uptown area.
