Because of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, some of the July 4 events in Athens likely will be adjusted and/or canceled. Check with the Athens County Convention & Visitors Bureau for updates. Ohio University is only holding online classes this summer.
July 4 is of course the day we celebrate our nation’s independence. This year it falls conveniently on a Saturday, so if you’ve got some wild celebration in mind, you have Saturday to kick up your heels, and Sunday to recover.
If you’re taking courses during the summer, you’ll have July 3 (a Friday) off from school, as that’s the day OU observes the holiday by closing university offices, with classes not in session.
